Steve Hedberg, has been a hotel industry leader for more than-thirty three years. He was previously Vice President of Operations for Carlson Hotels Americas (owned and managed assets) focusing on properties in North America and the Caribbean. This included all full-service and select-service operations for more than thirty of the following managed assets:

  • Regent Hotels & Resorts
  • Radisson Hotels & Resorts
  • Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts
  • Country Inns & Suites

Most recently he was responsible for new property openings of the new Radisson Blu brand, an up-scale approach applied to select Carlson properties. In this role Hedberg was responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing operations standards
  • Strategic marketing programs and brand strategies for Carlson managed and owned hotels/resorts (United States and the Caribbean)
  • Achieving revenue, profit and customer service goals for the region and supporting the overall hotel division’s goals.
     
A proven track record      

With vast, worldwide experience in the hospitality industry, Hedberg has a proven track record in all areas of hotel management including hotel openings, takeovers, and management turnarounds. He consistently delivers a high-quality, customer-driven management style to employees, while focusing on asset enhancement for ownership.

Prior to his position at Carlson Corporate, Hedberg served as the general manager of the Radisson Hotel located in La Crosse, Wisconsin for six years. In this role he was responsible for the overall management of the property that included: sales and marketing strategies, a $7 million annual operating budget, day-to-day management of 153 employees, including 23 managers, food & beverage and convention services. 

Under his leadership, Radison Hotel La Crosse was one of the top 3 customer service-rated hotels for five straight years.


International assignments
  • General manager of the Kamala Bay Terrace Resort -- A Colony Resorts located in Phuket, Thailand.  He finalized the opening of this five-star luxury resort on an island in southern Thailand and managing Colony's regional sales and marketing office in Bangkok.  Prior to the sale of Colony Hotels & Resorts to Interstate Hotel Corporation in 1994, the resort was a sister company to Radisson. 
  • General manager of the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City, Central America where he was responsible for training managers in control procedures, day-to-day management and financial techniques.
  • He spearheaded the opening of the Radisson Principe De Asturias Hotel in Sevilla, Spain while also serving as corporate director of food and beverage for Radisson. In that role, Hedberg developed and executed restaurant concepts, renovation plans and operating budgets for 36 full service properties.

Early Experience
Previously Hedberg was resident manager at the Radisson Plaza Hotel at Town Center in Southfield, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit and executive assistant manager of food and beverage for the Radisson Hotel Atlanta.  Prior to joining Radisson, he held managerial positions for five years with Marriott Hotels and for seven years with Hyatt Hotels in Texas, Ohio and Illinois.

Steve Hedberg earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and graduated from the mini MBA Executive Leadership Program at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota.
